3M Dynatel 1420-iD EMS Marker Locator kit with Keson PA14. The 1420-iD locates underground EMS markers, reads and writes 3M iD markers, estimates marker depth, and supports dual marker frequency search with RS232/USB PC interface.
The 3M Dynatel 1420-iD is an electronic marker locator for underground EMS markers. In this configuration, the main instrument is paired with a Keson PA14 secondary instrument. The verified locator function is marker locating with iD read/write capability for 3M iD markers.
3M identifies the 1420-iD as a microprocessor-based Electronic Marker System marker locator. It locates underground passive EMS markers, reads and writes 3M iD markers, provides direct marker depth reading, and can search for two marker frequencies at the same time. The unit also stores marker records with date and time stamp and connects to a computer through a standard RS232 serial connection with USB adapter support.
The 1420-iD uses a large backlit graphic display and soft-key interface. 3M lists support for all seven EMS marker frequencies and compatibility with 3M markers for telephone, gas, communication, power, water, wastewater, and general purpose marking. The receiver size is 10.25 x 4.7 x 30 in and the receiver weight including batteries is 4 lb. Power is supplied by eight AA alkaline batteries, with typical battery life rated at 25 hours. The enclosure is rated IP54. 3M also states compatibility with selected GPS/GIS field mapping instruments for marker placement mapping.
