OptiTap Simplex Plug AdapterFMAE Series adapters are used for patch cord inspection. They attach to the Patch Cord Microscope on theSmartClass Fiber Series, as well as the Fva Benchtop Microscope. They can also be connected to any VIAVI probe microscope by using the BFP-UFMAE, together with an FBP-BAP1 adapter. FMAE Series adapters are all female threaded.

An OTDR launch cable, which connects the OTDR to the link-under-test, discloses the insertion loss and reflectance of the near-end connection. It is often available on a small spool or within a “launch box”, which is used to create the proper conditions for testing another similar optical fiber for faults.
