Innov-X Systems Alpha-2000-A handheld XRF analyzer for elemental chemistry measurement and positive material identification (PMI) on metals. Reports alloy composition in percentage values at the test point. Configured for Alloys, Gold & Silver analysis using the onboard iPAQ interface.
Innov-X Systems Alpha-2000-A is a handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer used to measure elemental chemistry at the test point. The analyzer uses a tube-based excitation source and a silicon PIN diode detector to report chemistry in percentage values on the handheld display. This unit is configured for Alloys, Gold, and Silver workflows and is operated through an HP iPAQ touchscreen interface.
The Alpha Series platform is built around a miniature X-ray tube excitation source (Ag or W anode, 10–40 kV) and a high-resolution Si PiN diode detector (specified to <230 eV FWHM at the Mn K-alpha line). The system uses an HP iPAQ pocket PC for control and data display. Power is supplied by rechargeable Li-ion batteries that power both the analyzer and the iPAQ together. Manufacturer specifications list an operating temperature range of -10°C to +50°C and typical battery life of about 8 hours under a typical duty cycle.
